Add a CommentMy all time favourite book, and I have read the series over and over. I never fail to fall in love with the characters...especially Marcello...and still feel the suspense of every battle even if I know how it'll end. I would recommend this book to any teenage girl, and promise you'll enjoy it! The romance is incredible and I love the idea that the main character is a strong female that can hold her own. I also enjoy the fact that it's situated in ancient Italy. A must read!!
Great series! I usually don't care for time travel stories, but the entire series is great!
An addicting read, but I started off a little worried that it would be all love story. I think the ideas are sound and that the story plays out well, but I'd like to see a few more holes filled in. Looking forward to more character development and adventure in the next book.
This is such a great book!!! I just love this series!! This has become my most favorite series yet!!
I absolutely love this series!!!!!! I wish i could meet someone like marcello in my time. i am so much like Gabi. I cant always connect with friends and family, and am tough and wish for romance.
I agree with: newestgirlz in that i was realy unhappy with Gabis fight seen with Marcello, trying to prove her ability to wield a sword!---- very lame :(!!!!!!! however..... I absolutly LOVED this book, and am soooooooo glad that I picked it off the shelf! marcello is a babe, and I love him. but I have to say that I instantly fell in love with Luca! and I kinda wanted him and gabi to end up together, but Ièll settle with lia! eagerly waiting to read the second!
Pros: - The setting was fascinating and interesting. Being a fan of BBC's Merlin, medieval anything naturally appealed to me, 14th century Italy was no exception. Cons: - This book took way too long to get going. I did give this book 50% of its length and still, nothing truly grabbed me except for the setting. - The main character Gabi was annoying. With phrases like "a serious hottie" and "had the hots for me", she almost sounded like a 30 year old trying to sound like a teenager. Also, her "tough girl" attitude was quite over done. How can she take on a knight/prince with an over-sized sword is beyond me. And of course all the knights fall for her... - The plot. Granted, I didn't finish this so when I say the plot was so romance-based, I could be wrong. Having 50% so focused on you stealing another girl's man was just not my cup of tea. - Plot progression. The main goal of Gabi's quest was to find his sister and after 50%, there was just not enough progression in the plot to keep me interested as to whether it happened or not. A better idea would have been, find you sister within the first 30% and have the rest the book to talk about the two's adventure back in time. 50% of "I need to find my sister. I really need to look for her. I just want to get my sister and I back home." was hella boring. Final note is that my library marked this as "sci-fi". Other than the idea of time travelling, nothing was even near the idea of science fiction. Just something I found funny, carry on.
loved this book. it was great! Gabi and Lia are awesome and i just loved Marcello, but he frustrated me at times. Luca, on the other hand, i thought i seen gabi falling for - or hoping. He is a player it seems but im happy Lia caught his attention. I can NOT wait to read the next 2 books.
O.o it was just amazing!!! My teacher let us read this for lit. circles and omg wow... got hooked by reading just the back :P it`s sooo interesting :D i cant decide between Luca and Marcello ahaha lol its a must read for any age, teens/tweens can relate umm ish to Gabi, while adults will just adore it. READ IT! IT'S MY FAVORITE HISTORY TYPE OF KINDA BOOK!! ANY TIME RELATED THING IS A MUST READ :p
Having read some Christian fiction before and found it to be less that what I expected, I was a bit hesitant to start this series. However, the author has created a book that is great among Christian fiction today, and one that has the perfect balance between romance and adventure. Gabi is a a unique and strong-willed female in a time where males dominate, and it was great to see such a strong protagonist. The plot was definitely captivating with the adventure and battles, all leading to the climax which unfolded nicely. Overall, this book was a great start to the series, one that I look forward to completing.
