Great book. Hope a second book will come out soon! If you liked this book, I recommend the Percy Jackson series to you.

Fun and compelling story with some cool imaginary creatures. The interaction between the siblings is very real and you develop a real interest in them. The plot is very complicated with lots of time travel and the re-writing of recent history, maybe unnecessarily so. Also, there is a lot that is familiar here: a beginning like Series of Unfortunate Events, the existence of dwarves and the importance of the family unit like Chonicles of Narnia. Yet, I will be recommending it to 4th and up if they want a good summer read -- that leaves you wanting to read the rest of the series.

In fact, they seem to be the only children in the area.....
