Because I read (listened to) the 2nd in the series before this one, there weren't many surprises. Still an enjoyable read and look forward to more of Flora, Joel and of course Agnot!

A little late to the party for this Jenny Colgan series but glad I finally showed up! I met Flora MacKenzie and friends in Christmas at the Island Hotel and fell in love with the Scottish island and the characters living there. It was fun…

The Cafe by the Sea: first few chapters were quite good - fun, quirky, moved along quickly. And then it slowed down and took huge detours. I didn't have any empathy for the main character Flora or her nasty family or friends. Started…

This was my first Jenny Colgan book and I went on quickly to read the two others that follow (Endless Beach, Christmas on the Island), then to Bookshop on the corner, and the Bakery ones. I must have read ten of her books or more now and…

Reading Jenny Colgan's books is not good for your figure! The cakes and other delightful goodies make your mouth water! A good story too! This is the first book - Endless Beach is the second book. Both are very good :-)

This delightful story has just a tiny touch of magical realism to add even more charm than the Beach Street books. About five hours of blissful summer escapism--but would be just as lovely to red in front of a crackling fire with a cup of…

Colgan writes in the style of Maeve Binchey with her memorable characters and detailed descriptions of Mure, a Scottish island. Flora fled to London after her mother's death to escape the small island and find work. She's hopelessly in…

Pure escapist fiction done right by Jenny Colgan, author of the Little Beach Street Bakery series. When Flora is sent back to her home island of Mure by her London law firm, she rediscovers the beauty of the remote Scottish island and her…

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It wasn't all light and feathery humor, but neither did it bog down in dark and dreary. I actually enjoyed this better than 'Bakery'. Don't know if that's because I'd read Bakery first and knew something of…

Every one of Jenny Colgan's novels is a gem. This one is very much so. A northern Scottish island, a girl among a family of men, discovering one's path in life and true passion....there is a lot to look forward to here. A read that will…

Another sweet and delightful and perfect read from Colgan. The going-home trope is not always as interesting as the running-away one, but readers who loved THE BOOKSHOP ON THE CORNER will also very much enjoy CAFE.
