Cat's family is moving to a coastal town to help Cat's little sister Maya cope better with her chronic illness, cystic fibrosis. Cat must cope with losing her old friends, making new ones, and living in a town where everyone seems to be obsessed with ghosts. This graphic novel helps readers understand what it is like being the older sibling of someone suffering from a chronic illness. It also uses the Mexican culture surrounding Dia de los Muertos to tell the story of how Cat and Maya both come to terms with Maya's illness. This one is definitely a tear-jerker in the best way!
My child very much enjoyed this book. She said she believes most kids think it is scary, but it isn't.
Cute but emotional story. A great companion piece to read, if you enjoyed the movie Coco.
I was a bit thrown off by the supernatural element in this one, but still a lovely story. Raina Telgemeier never disappoints!
I really enjoyed reading Ghosts. It was a really interesting book. I love reading graphic novels and this book was an amazing graphic novel. I give 3/5 star rating because it wasn't my favourite but it was still really good.
This is my favourite book and we own it. I've read it so many times that it is now falling apart.
I LOVE this book! Its the best. If you are looking for a good graphic novel, I recommend reading this amazing graphic novel!!!!
A wonderfully crafted story about a family moving, adjusting and embracing change. There's good morals about bonds, fun adventures, and adorable characters. Art is fantastic too! One of my favourite parts about this book is that the main character's sister has Cystic Fiberosis and she's a character that's written in a very real and charming way. I'm sure you'll love her enthusiasm. Give this book a read!
I love this book!!!its sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good!!!I wish there was another book that continues the story.I wonder if the ghost who looked like Cats grandma was actually her grandma.if u are reading this comment you should read this book!!!!My rating is 5 out of 5!since I am not Spanish it was hard to understand those Spanish words in the book.but luckily I googled the words up.
This story has a lot of heart and so clearly communicates the conflicted emotions of an older child in a family where another child is ill. Sacrifices have to be made, like the move we see this family working through at the beginning of the story. We see the love Kat has for Maya and how afraid she is about dealing with the ramifications of cystic fibrosis. I was also surprised to find out how fully this book depicts a community that celebrates Dia De Los Muertos with such joy and passion. Will keep this one in my back pocket to recommend when we are getting close to that time of year again.
i read this book to fulfil a goal read a book set on or around halloween. this goal made me super nervous since i can't handle scary books really well. this was a children's graphic novel, so i figured i couldn't get to off track. it's actually really sweet. if you liked the movie Cocco you would like this one. it cebrates the day of the dead and our ansestors. it really was a nice story a very quick read.
this book was really exciting to read as it had many twists and emotions. the title really lives up to its name, and I believe that Raina Telgemeir really knocked this one out of the park.
I read this to try something new like graphic novel and it is very interesting and short it is great for beginners and can be finished in a short amount of time if read with passion
Ghosts a book by Raina Telgemeier. I give this book a 4 out of five. I give it that simply because of its creativity in the book and how the author touches on a different holiday than Halloween. I am in love with this graphic novel because it uses a different holiday than Halloween. Halloween is my favorite holiday, but I like learning about different holidays and cultures. This book is great because t has a lot of heart and meaning to it. many of the books that I read is very very simple and cut to the chase, but I find that this book takes it slow and that you're in for learning their whole life and why did this happen how did this happen and so on. this book it a very short book which I guess graphic novels can be short because of its a book with pictures. Again I have to say I love the art style that she used to find that it very her and that it is her way of drawing and I am in live wit t. Although it is so simple you can never match the artists' design. I recommend this book to any person who just wants to sit down and read a book in one day. I fell in love with this book and hope that you will too soon. @IceCream of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
Ghosts follows the story of a girl and her family as they move away from their town. They have to move because her younger sister is sick, and must be taken to a city where the air is better for her lungs. They move to a smaller city that is known for ghosts. Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday where they celebrate their loved ones who have passed on, is very popular there. While in the city, they discover many unique things. It is a very heartwarming story, and I personally enjoyed it very much. Day of the Dead has always interested me, so I thought this was a very unique story. I recommend this novel to anyone interested in Day of the Dead, and give it a 5/5. @Gummibee11 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
Raina Telgemeiers' Ghosts is a one of a kind story about a girl, Cat learning about her heritage and adapting to a new life. In this new neighborhood that Cat has moved to, everyone seems to be talking about the "day of the dead" and the ghosts who frequently came to visit which is a bit alarming at first. However, with the help of her new friends, her sister and her family, Cat discovers a new side of her that she had never known about. Ghosts is a great, short little read that will definitely brighten your day. As well, personally I know that Ghosts is also great to take anywhere and everywhere to read. Thus, I know as a matter of fact that you won't regret reading Ghosts! Rate: 4/5 stars.

My sister loved this book. she also really likes the Babysitters Club graphic novels by Raina Telgemeier.
I haven't read much by way of graphic novels (which is probably a little weird, since I make so many comics), and this is a perfect one to begin with if you want to get into the swing of the genre. The story is touching without getting sappy, there's an interesting mystery/supernatural element that's really not creepy, and the art style fits the story and characters perfectly. All around an excellent read, and one I would highly recommend.
I found this story uplifting. It brought a happy feeling with it and one of family love.
While is a young graphic novel (tween age), as an adult I found it uplifting, warm and a happy read. Maya's smile and enthusiasm for Life is contagious.
A really lovely story.
After a sudden move to the foggy North of California, Cat and her sister Maya are shocked to learn about their new town's ghostly inhabitants! Don't worry though, these spirits are friends...and family!
I LOVED this book. A must read. My parents don't usually like graphic novels, but they thought that this one was good. It was GREAT!
