Four years after the unsolved disappearance of her sixteen-year-old daughter, Lauren Lawton is the only one still chasing the ghosts of her perfect Santa Barbara life. The world has given her daughter up for dead. Her husband ended his own life in the aftermath. Lauren knows exactly who took her oldest child, but there is not a shred of evidence against the man. Even as he stalks her family, Lauren is powerless to stop him. Looking for a fresh start in a town with no memories, Lauren and her younger daughter, Leah, move to idyllic Oak Knoll. But when Lauren's suspect turns up in the same city, it feels that history is about to repeat itself. Leah Lawton will soon turn sixteen, and Oak Knoll has a cunning predator on the hunt. Sheriff's detective Tony Mendez and his team begin to close in on the suspected killer, desperate to keep the young women of their picturesque town safe. But as the investigators sift through the murky circumstances of an increasingly disturbing case, a stunning question changes everything they thought they knew.

Not as good as the first two. Vince was hardly in it at all. She (the author) also got somewhat more crude than the first two books. I don't read romance books, I don't want that crap my mystery books. Also get tired of some of her wording, IE: if the person gets hit. Then, the 'black lace' comes into their vision. ..

Not as good as the other two in this arc, it finishes the trilogy. Lacks the plotting and definitely the presence of Vince Leone who never really shows up except as a cameo - disappointing as I really enjoy his character.

I did like this book. It held my interest. However, it is not a mystery. The only mystery is who is going to be left standing at the end. Lauren Lawton has become the mother of a missing and presumed murdered child and widow of a suicide all within four years. She's a mess and the police have not been able to help her due to lack of evidence. Though this is in the Oak Knoll series it reads pretty much like a stand-alone.

AMAZING. I had the EXACT same thoughts as did gloryb re: made for TV movie on W, the excessive repeating and over emoting(For the first hundred pages, I read pretty much every word on the page, then about half of the words on the page, then about 5 sentences per page, then about 3, until the final act when it got a little more interesting. It was like a soap opera - miss a day (a page) and you don't miss anything

This is the third book in this series by the author, and, in my opinion the best one. I really enjoyed the realistic way the author ties the storyline up....a believable story, despite the fact that its a novel of fiction.
