I love these Inspector Montalbano mysteries. They exude Sicilian atmosphere, humor, poignancy, human interest, and the fragrance of delicious Sicilian dishes.

Salvo Montalbano witnesses the strange death-dance of a seagull. At the same time, his right-hand man goes missing. Montalbano sets out to find him and realizes that Fazio has gone off to investigate a case without telling anyone. So the story begins.

Camilleri has an incredible gift of being able to portray both the good and bad in society. This novel is no exception. Well worth reading! I am so glad Camilleri has written so many more of these mysteries. Four down and still nine (or more) to go....

I really enjoyed this book. Montalbano is 57 in this book. Still cooking up some good remedies. I made sure I read all the Montalbano books in order, I have two left to read, I'll miss him. You can google to get a list of his stories in chronological order.
