I love this book because it almost feels like a magic trick the way things enter the story line it's magnificent.

This book is about a poor boy who loses his family to a sickness going around in Venice circa 1700's. All alone Nicolo decides to play his clarinet on the street to earn money, when a man from the Ospedale orphanage mistakes him for a girl and asks him to audition with his rare, but beautiful sounding clarinet. Desperate, Nicolo transforms his appearance into a girls. But when someone tries to rat him out, Nicolo must save someone he cares about in mrs than a friend aspect or be found out. Later on in the book Nicolo tries to find the history behind his clarinet. But when his life changes dramatically from a poor orphan to a rich musician he wonders if it was for the better. Could his life and love be at stake in Venice or should he stay in Vienna.
