Shea Rigsby has spent her entire life in Walker, Texas, a small college town that lives and dies by football, a passion she unabashedly shares. Raised alongside her best friend, Lucy, the daughter of Walker's legendary head coach, Shea was too devoted to her hometown team to leave. I had read reviews on this before reading it, so I knew about the awkward and uncomfortable storyline before getting into it. Giffin actually does a good job exploring the awkward and taboo nature of the main relationship, which is one of the things she's known for. The narrator also does a good job with all the characters' voices and accents, and doesn't make them annoyingly obvious in any way. Football is a huge part of the book but still way too many references, and I glazed over most of these. Mainly though, I did not enjoy the ending; it was too abrupt and there was much more that could have been explored.

Weird and incestual. Emily Giffin missed the mark on this one...

Icky. I only made it through part of this before I had to call it quits. Wish I had read reviews before hand. Bad story, annoying protagonist and just plain creepy.

ah, gag. A sickeningly sweet love story. Hope you like football, because Griffin beats the reader over the head with the football metaphors.
