Approaching retirement, Al and Millie Richardson are at odds about what they want to do with their golden years. For Al, it's all about relaxation and travel. Millie, however, wants to open a bed-and-breakfast in their quiet Kentucky town. Meanwhile, the locals are boycotting the new and young female veterinarian after her predecessor's retirement. More trouble is brewing over who will paint the town's water tower after the son of a longtime "Creeker" resident with questionable color choices is again up for a vote to refurbish it.

I was led to this book, first in the series about Goose Creek, and delightfully surprised. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with the characters and the story line. It is light-hearted, fairly humorous at times and a great change to the demands of this busy world! Dr. Susan is delightful and I immediately started rooting for her to overcome her rich Daddy and be her own woman! She meets the most delightful man in Justin Hinkle & I immersed myself in the storyline and the characters. Virginia Smith has a talent for reaching out to shake a hand and as she weaves her tale, instead she touches a heart! I became an instant fan! If you are way too busy in this world of timelines and appointment and need a simple, "take me away" moment, then this book is DEFINITELY for you!

A delightful book to read if you want something quick to read. However, not much suspense or character development.

Cute, endearing and light. To be enjoyed with a cup of tea and a slice of lemon cake ( read the book to know why ! ).

Could have been better. There are some good ideas in this story but they are just not well developed. Characters are just not quite in depth enough to feel.
