Still engrossing: the series gets darker and intense, friendships fracture but somehow hold, closeted homosexuality takes a poignant toll, Dickens the puppy grows up, and the old cliche of "money can't buy happiness" is deftly represented by spacious, echoing rooms and a baby's knit sweater. I look forward to the next series. One minor nit: the creator does a normally superb job of detailing crime scenes at the right level of complexity. In one of the stories, there's a cheesy repeated action shot of a hanging that detracts from the moment.

Excellent series! I hope there are more seasons available. Really well-cast characters, believable, heart-felt relationships and stories.

Season 2 even better than season 1. Gets into more complicated issues. Also characters relationships with one another become more complicated and "fleshed out". Enjoyable viewing that will get you thinking and discussing.

The story gets a bit bloody but the complexity of male friendship and crisis of faith hold things together well. The movie is much better than the book.

Not as good as season 1, but still interesting partnership between vicar Chambers and policeman Keating (the inimitable Robson Green). Sidney's ongoing infatuation with Morven Christie's character just weighs down the plot, when it's clear they are meant for each other. I suppose the creators are dragging it out until season 3.
