At an army base in rural England, these unique children are being studied and subjected to cruel experiments. I never watch zombie movies, but I liked this one.

Just when you thought every possible zombie angle had already been exploited comes yet another fresh spin on an old mainstay. This time around it’s an alien fungus that has invaded England turning the population into hordes of teeth-snapping flesh-eating “Hungries” and mankind’s only hope rests with a group of hybrid children. Infected with the spores yet still able to function (almost) normally, the children may hold the key to a vaccine. And then all hell breaks loose once more and a ragtag team of survivors (including a miscast Glenn Close as a ludicrous mad scientist) find themselves on the move with a very personable young Hungry named Melanie who, despite a messy habit of devouring cats and birds, just wants to help. The usual parade of guts and exploding heads is toned down somewhat in favour of a genuinely novel story with humour, compassion and a WTF? ending that left me smiling.

Movie well worth the watch. No, not just another zombie movie. The little girl in the film was fantastic. After seeing hundreds of movie zombies created by animal viruses, plant viruses, toxic waste, and rage viruses this movie puts out another plausible cause. Haven't heard too much about this movie so it is a gem you should see. This will wind up on some zombie critic's top twenty list eventually.

This a very good movie and a solid addition to the pantheon of zombie cinema. It's a good adaption of the novel (which I also enjoyed), and stays reasonably true to the author's original story. The actors give solid performances and the production values are high. The juxtaposition of the main characters' lot in 'life' at the beginning and end of the film is interesting as well.

There's been a bit of a zombie over-saturation this past decade (not sure what the psychological subtext of this means in relation to this generation; i.e.- the alien-invasion flicks of the 1950's revealing the cold-war fears of the era); but, being a unflagging horror consumer, I had to give it a go. This quality effort was definitely worth it. The ethical and anthropological/evolutionary aspects revealed give this genre entry far more depth than one usually would expect. Excellent performance by the young lead. Great to see Glenn Close in this interesting and entertaining work.

The Girl With all the Gifts is a post apocalyptic movie based in a dystopian future where people have become zombies. The girl with all the gifts has a premise similar to other zombie movies. "In the future, a strange fungus has nearly everyone turning into thoughtless, flesh eating monsters". This plot has been seen numerous times but the difference is the scientists are actually trying to save civilization. If I have to compare this to something I would say it resembles the game The Last of Us almost identically. (I would say The Last of Us is superior in comparison) but overall this is a pretty good movie, just a tad bland but definitely worth giving a watch.
Plot : 5/10
Characters : 7/10
Cinematography: 8/10
overall 6.8/10

This is more of a story-based dystopian flick, although there is enough shooting, bloodshed, and some special effects for those who demand it in their sci-fi. We really liked this movie, especially the concept and the ending. Sennia Nanua as Melanie is fabulous! Glenn Close also good (as usual).
