As always, Bond's command of both current and upcoming technology is top rate. And the action is non-stop, making for a page-turning read. What caused me to drop my rating was the one-dimensionality of his characters. Like the set of an old movie western, everything appears authentic on the surface, but instead is just a facade with no depth. Bond and his co-author make an effort to flesh out the characters, but the effort falls short. Most are stereotypes of one type or another.

I am not a great fan of these collaborative fiction products. They smack of mass production literature and are usually nowhere near as good as what the better known author produces on his own.

Still, it is a quick, fun, read and the high tech is tons of fun. Just don't expect too much depth from the characters.
