The job of a spook is to deal with all things of the night: monsters, witches, vampires and demons. It's dangerous work that requires more than a little luck, courage and brains.

The boggart had bitten off Billy's fingers as far down as the second knuckle and was busily sucking the blood from his body. Billy's screams of pain had faded to away to a whimper, and when they got his hand free, only his thumb was left. Soon after he died of shock and loss of blood.

Awesome book for reader who love horror fiction.
The back of the book says, "WARNING: NOT TO BE READ AFTER DARK." Heed this. Don't be fooled by any impression that this is a kiddie book. I'm an old geezer and some story elements trembled my toes. I have an 11-year-old granddaughter who has read all the Harry Potter books more than once, but I hesitate to recommend it to her. I loved it but think it's not for every one. Thomas is a great hero that earns his affirmation by facing relentless, nasty villains.
This really is very good book for horror fiction. I would suggest to read at night with just lamp. The feeling is nice. Would definitely going to read next book.
This book is dark, almost too dark to be aimed at junior high readers. For instance, there is a scene describing a ghoul tearing off the fingers of a teenager from which their blood is drank until they die. That being said, the language was not too tough for a junior high reader, and the action is non-stop. Quite the page turner, akin to Harry Potter books, but on a much smaller, yet creepier scale.
Spoooky... Love it. Great plot. You can't help but feel that Toms decisions will effect him badly in the near future. Like how he did something that made things turn. Mother Malkin is a creepazoid. Creepiest part in the book is Number 13 Watery Lane. Spooks brother hates him so much that whenever he comes he makes a huge cross , and he does it very dramaticly. This reminds me of Salem Witch Trials. Pictures By every Chapter add to creepy feel. Spoooky...
Revenge of the Witch, follows a twelve year old farm boy named Tom as he apprentices under a Spook in the countryside of England. Tom goes on a journey like no other, going far from home and learning about things he never knew existed. Joseph Delaney creates a world much like our own, however tied to dark and mysterious forces which many don’t believe in. This story is thrilling, scary, filled with adventure and knowledge of a different side to life. As you read you and Tom learn more about what happens around him and it's thrilling to not know what happens next. Overall, i strongly recommend the entire series, as each book is something new.
