An enjoyable and engrossing book that traces human history through the writings of different eras. Puncher traces the development of ideas and why some stuck and others faded into obscurity. It gives a broad scale, ranging from The Epic of Gilgamesh, The Bible, Don Quixote, The Communist Manifesto, Harry Potter, and many others.

A joy to read and an unexpected page-turner. One of the best books on the history of literature I've read.
