This movie felt like it was 3 hours long. The relentlessly self-involved shadowland where
the protagonist lives not only gets boring but it could also depress viewers. However the actor who plays his son is the only light in this movie. The reviews indicate that there are comedic moments but I saw none of them. Watching Ben Stiller frolic on a beach with two 20 year old women made me uncomfortable. Stiller seems to have no range or capacity for nuance as an actor. His wooden face may make you want to slap Brad and say, to quote a young student who attracts him, "you have enough".

This is listed as a comedy but there is little humor unless you find that an adult having mid-life crisis is funny. Slow paced, Brad's conversation with the girl was boringly long. The bar emptied before he was finished defending himself.

Abrams is an actor to watch...

This musical drama stars Ben Stiller, and is about a man named Brad Sloan who is relatively content with his life and his career, but can’t help wondering if he would be happier if he had the busy and successful lives of his friends from college. After reconnecting with them, however, he starts to wonder if he is actually the most successful one after all. This movie definitely has a main character that will annoy you sometimes with his ego-maniac personality, but at the same time, he will find a way to grow on you. This movie is very fitting for many as it combines comedy with drama and psychology, making it an interesting film all around. I would rate this movie 4/5 stars. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Slow pace, self pity, mid life crisis. Stop watching after 30 mins.

The message is clear, the character is like someone many of us have encountered but irritatingly overplayed.

Non-stop self-pity and mid-life crisis angst.

what everyone else is saying.... I thought it'd get better.... wallowing in self pity despite abounding privilege... mid life crisis that is EXHAUSTING to watch... hoping main character completes the journey or improves but he doesn't... seriously, even tho this movie was free I still feel ripped off. just pass on this

If you want to hear the internal dialogue of a mid-life crisis - here you go. If not, you probably want to pass on this.
