This is a terrific read for anyone interested in Paris and the works of Bemelman's and Lamorisse. It almost felt as if the author wanted to write biographies rather than fiction, and though I learned quite a bit about Bemelman's and Lamorisse, I sometimes felt disconnected from the characters and the novel. But I'm still thinking about this book, weeks after having finished it, and that is always a good sign of something intriguing!

One of my favorite new books of 2018! Mystery, family, Paris, The Red Balloon, Madeline - an adventure in Paris with honesty, love and a passion for books. For more Paris book recommendations explore Liam Callanan's book recommendations, books that Leah mentions and websites.
