The Day the Floods Came --- by --- M. C. Beaton
The river’s in flood, the town’ street are awash, the ground floors of shops are drowned in the onrush, and, floating down the river comes the body of a young lady dressed in a bridal gown, holding a bouquet of flowers. That’s the opening scene. So the question is, who froze the body, who dumped it in the river, who killed her in the first place and why? All the elements for a good murder mystery. And as usual, M. C. does not disappoint.

More plodding than the average Agatha Raisin mystery, but the ending had me reaching for the next installment.
