When pompous, pious Reverend Josiah Holworthy publicly condemns him for debauchery, the two enter a war of words, and satirical cartoonist A.J. Quill skewers them both. When the clergyman is found slain in a church, Wrexford is the chief suspect. Quill is really artist Charlotte Sloane, using the non de plume of her late husband. When Wrexford discovers her true identity, he has wants her to use her sources to unveil the clergyman's clandestine involvement in questionable scientific practices, and unmask the real murderer.

An irascible earl and an independent woman with a secret square off and team up in this charming first in a new cozy mystery series set in Regency London.

A really good start to a series set in Regency times; you have bored scientist and member of the nobility, the Earl of Wrexford teaming up with cartoonist AJ Quill, or really Mrs Charlotte Sloane to solve the murder of the reverend who has been locking horns with Wrexford. All clues point to Wrexford as the culprit.... I thought this was very well done, and I hope for more in this series.
