This is a fairly short paperback, so is a relatively quick read.

I've been vegan for well over 15 years and vegetarian for 20 or more. It was a book by John Robbins that convinced me to move in that direction (I'd already stopped eating red meat). It's one of the best decisions of my life. Robbins's writing has gotten even better over the years, and this is an important, engaging and at times moving, book. (Since the essays are based on blogs from The Huffington Post, I think I'll have to start reading those.) Despite some preachiness near the end, there's lots of information (much of it chilling) in this small collection and more than a little wisdom.
