Add a CommentAfter reading "Peter Nimble and his fantastic eyes" I had high hopes. I was disappointed. I wish I had read it myself before reading it to my kids (8 and 9). It is worth noting that "Sophie Quire the last Storyguard" is a much darker tale than Peter Nimble. I don't think the books are written for the same age group. Where Peter Nimble is already a pretty graphic, fast paced adventure for elementary students, Sophie Quire is way more than that and geared more towards middle-school-aged kids. At least Auxier's good guys are truly good and the bad guys, truly bad. In the end everyone gets what's coming to them and Sophie makes the right choice. This book is not for people who are sensitive to tales for kids that include magic.
all wright I'm going to jump right in. the book had this almost fairy tale like sense about it. It had such a well planned out world that it almost seemed real. it was very mystical and magical. the characters were amazing.
I think that if you are looking for something mystical and magical you should definitively read this one.
Such an enjoyable read. Beautifully paced, interesting characters and a good story - about stories. I haven't read the preceding books but I will now make sure to do so.
The importance of story in every person's life is so well brought out in this tale. I highly recommend it for all ages.
For a child's book, it kept this adult engaged and intrigued throughout. Great read-aloud for classroom or home. May benefit from reading Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes first, but the book stands alone as well. Beautifully written, but never takes itself too seriously. Great to read this young, Canadian author who is making a unique niche for himself.
I really can't wait to know what will happen in this book! I've read "Peter Nimble and his Fantastaic Eyes" and "Night Gardner". So far these books were super awesome, cool and filled with extraordinairy adventures! I am soo looking forward to reading the next book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
