Sheila Nevins shares the real life challenges of being a woman in a man's world, what it means to be a working mother, what it's like to be an older woman in a youth-obsessed culture, the sometimes changing, often sweet truth about marriages, what being a feminist really means, and who is in good company if adult children don't return phone calls.

Sheila Nevins, a famous documentary producer, has written a collection of essays that detail the challenges of being a female in all-male world. Ready by a cast of stars, she covers subjects as diverse as separate bedrooms, frenemies (hilariously read by Gayle King), children's pets, and being a working mom whose classmates all have stay-at-home mommies. Each essay is separated by an appropriate musical interlude and a different voice. The most memorable voices for me were Alan Alda, Kathy Bates, and Lesley Stahl. A must for "women of a certain age".

It was GOOOOOOOD. I liked it. I found it entertaining, sincere, relevant, comforting, insightful and educating. The only down side was that it was too short.
It felt as if I was in warm company of my close friends, just talking and listening.
