Simple, easy to read and understand "poetry"; for teenage girls.

I thought this volume was just as good as her first one, I loved all of the poems and her writing style

Of course my opinion is subjective, but nonetheless I am still entitled to one.

Sure, many people love Rupi Kaur's poetry because it's relatable and resonates with many; however, to call any of her poems revolutionary would be absolutely absurd. They resemble little fluffs of nothing and are pretty mediocre.

I actually was recommended this book after talking with my mentor about my break up (wow this got personal real quick) but I am SO glad that she showed me this book. I felt every poem I read, not even just because of my break up. It helped me come to terms with a lot of things and opened my eyes to a fact that should be quite obvious actually. I can't quite put it into the rights words, but I highly recommend reading this book. I am 100% certain that you will find at least one poem that you strongly resonate with, I found many and took pictures of them to remind myself of the importance of some of these things.

P.S. I took SO MANY pictures and I think that you should do the same!

There were times I felt myself having to push through or getting bored with this book. But other times, I was reading and rereading pages with a steady stream of tears.

Normally I would give a lower rating to something that did not always manage to keep me hooked, but Kaur’s ability to move me to the point she did is rare and beautiful. She wrote about trauma, regret, immigration, culture, and so much more, in a way that I have not seen much at all before. There is something in it for everyone. I would 100% recommend it, even to those who are not big poetry fans.

As a huge fan of poetry, I thought Rupi Kaur's poetry book was absolutely amazing! It made me feel like I was going through the emotions of heartbreak, letting go, trauma, finding yourself again, rebuilding yourself, and loving yourself all in one poetry book. It really leaves you thinking about the moments she brings up, even after you've finished. Definitely recommended!

we hadn’t touched yet
but we managed to travel in and out
of each other with our words
our limbs dizzying with enough electricity
to form half a sun

hand over everything in your name
for a ticket onto the boat
next to a hundred others like you
packed like sardines
you tell the woman beside you
_this boat is not strong enough to carry
this much sorrow to a shore
what does it matter_ she says
_if drowning is easier than staying_
how many people has this water drunk up
is it all one long cemetery
bodies buried without a country
perhaps the sea is your country
perhaps the boat sinks
because it is the only place that will take you

leaving her country
was not easy for my mother
i still catch her searching for it
in foreign films
and the international food aisle

i can’t wrap my head around the fact
that i have to convince half the world’s population
my body is not their bed

you must see no worth in yourself
if you find me worth less
after you’ve touched me

you left
and i wanted you still
yet i deserved someone
who was willing to stay
