From Q with Love is an excellent compilation filled with a bunch of superb hits composed by the one and only Quincy Jones. The artists range from Michael Jackson to Barry White. There is a huge range of different music on here which showcases the genius of Quincy. Some of my favourite tracks on here include Michael’s “Human Nature” and “Liberian Girl”. The music on this CD are top notch and they’ve mostly included a lot of Quincy’s well known hits, but there are some notable funk pieces missing from this compilation including “Street Beater” (the theme used in Sanford and Son). Some songs I didn’t even know of are on here and they sound very delightful to the ear. Most of the CD is a melodious journey which sends you back in time to the simpler days when music was music, and you heard real instruments on the tracks that were being produced. It is compilation like these that show why Quincy has his status solidified as one of the great legends of not only black musicians, but for all musicians. I really believe if younger kids pick up and listen to these great songs they will be in for joyous time of wonderful music. Though the CD as I mentioned is missing a few notable songs, this is a great compilation for anyone brand new trying to get into Quincy Jones. This was the man who helped Michael Jackson with Off The Wall, Thriller, and Bad. Just those three albums alone showcase this man’s true genius behind the music and how great of a composer he is. All in all I will give this album a 4.5/5.
