Called to Cook County hospital to deal with an enraged ghost, Harry Dresden, Chicago's resident wizard, is puzzled and disturbed not by the ghost's wrath but by the fact that someone had cast a torture spell on it, goading it into action. Harry's disturbance increases when he discovers that the same spell has been cast on one of his friends. Harry begins to realize that he and his friends may be targets of a vengeful spirit, and as he desperately tries to discover which of his many enemies has it in for him, his friends are attacked one by one. The spirit, whom Harry refers to as the Nightmare, continues to torment Harry's friends until he manages to cast a spell preventing it from harming anyone else until it kills him, which leads to a showdown that Harry might not survive.

This book has sold me on reading the whole series! The first book was ok, I wasn't crazy about it, but a friend of mine convinced me to keep reading. Book 2 Fool Moon, was better and piqued my interest. This one seals the deal though! The story got a lot more interesting! Plus it helps that it had a lot to do with vampires, as i'm a huge fan of them xD Def recommend the series! :)

Working my way thru the series. Recommend it. Entertaining easy reading without danger of any deep or unsettling thoughts! Exactly what one needs when one is anxious.

Out of reading materials and short on time, I grabbed this book on the run. I'm not a great fan of fantasy, but got totally wrapped up in this book and finished it in one day. Butcher is a terrific writer and now I'm going back to the beginning of the Dresden Files series. A terrific read.

Continues to be just as much fun as the previous ones in the series. We're also introduced to Michael, Knight of the Cross for the first time in this novel.

Butcher's third book in the Dresden Files was just as spellbinding as the previous two, however, Grave Peril begins in the middle of the story and was a bit confusing to follow.

This series is as addictive as Black Court Vampire saliva. This particular book is no less satisfying than the previous too, although it starts a little into the story, and fills you in on what you've missed between this book and the last as you go alone. Well worth purchasing, to read again and again.
