In a year of great change, Mary van der Linden is undergoing a transformation, guided in her search by Frank, a New York journalist who introduces her to Greenwich Village, Miles Davis and adultery. 6 out of 10. Not as flat as the first review, not as great as the second. Had some good bits, had some not so good bits.

One of my favorite books; great character development, palpable tension, heart-wrenching resolution. The mid-century NYC setting is vividly drawn. If you like "Mad Men" you'll love this book.

Nothing to write home about. The book was all over the place and ultimately I did not find the characters believable. I kept thinking He's no Graham Greene.
