A failed revolutionary attempt drives the hero of W.H. Hudson's classic novel to seek refuge in the primeval forests of south-western Venezuela. There, in the "green mansions" of the title, Abel encounters the wood-nymph Rima, the last survivor of a mysterious aboriginal race. The love that flowers between them is soon overshadowed by cruelty and sorrow.

A brilliant and beautiful tale of a man escaping a political coup in a South American Country by hiding in the tropical forest in a primeval Indian village. He comes across a girl/woman, the last of her species that lives in the forest protecting it and the animals from the local tribesmen. The story is of the relationship and the events that follow.
