As others said, this was a low for the BBC series. The main plot and characters were just irritating and not compelling. The side stories range from funny to sweet, so I enjoyed it for that.

I was disappointed with this series. I especially disliked when the actors addressed the audience directly. The biography, "The Two Loves of Anthony Trollope," is worth watching though.

A treat.

This is such a sad story. Louis convinces himself that Emily is having an affair with her godfather. Trollope was a contemporary of Dickens, but I think, his characters are more realistic with comic relief coming from Col. Osborne (Bill Nighy) and Rev. Gibson (David Tennant). This adaptation makes the point that wives did not have many rights within their marriage if they were unable to influence their husbands.

Written at a point, late in his career, when Trollope realized that the 19th century was quite mad. Pitiful, sad, and historically accurate, with comic relief provided by Bill Nighy and Anna Massey. David Tennant is a showstopper.

Competent, but for Trollope fans.

Good costume drama for the mid-Victorian period. Even though most of it comes out OK, it's still a bit of a downer of a story. Interesting bio of Anthony Trollope as one of the features.

Yummy adaptation of the story of two young marrieds who try to cope with his overwhelming jealousy. At the same time the delightful side stories place a vicar in danger of marriage to the very unsuitable and false haired Miss French's, and the good hearted Dorothy in opposition to her strong willed aunt.
