I actually found this book at the donated section of the library so I got it for free. I read it and fell in love after the first chapter.

This is one of my favorite teen books. The repeated use of the word poof was amazing. The plot was easy to follow and the tip about a hook ( that once you start you can go back and explain whatever you want) was used greatly. Detail was piled on to just the right height and really made it clear what Everest was like. This is one of those books I'd really like to see as a movie, as long as it was like The Fifth Wave, where the line between book and movie was blurred so much, I recognized dialouge and ACTUALLY LIKED THE MOVIE! The plot was smooth and had one of the best and most hidden plot twists I've experienced. Beautiful book.

I assigned this to an adult reading /writing class for people improving their reading skills, and most of the students really liked this book. Although small type, it is fairly easy to read, has a good pace and an interesting and exciting plot.

it's so nice how Peak let Sunjo summit the mountain although he himself was like 10 feet away from the summit

This is actually a children's book about a son who is 13 who climbs a N.Y. skscraper and is bailed out by his father, a world-famous mountain climbing guide who takes him with him to try to get him to become the youngest to climb Mt. Everest. The kid's name is Peak! Interesting but predictable.

Unexpected ending, great read! I just left feeling a little unsatisfied, like there wasn't enough.

"My name is Peak. Yeah, I know: weird name. But you don't get to pick your name or your parents. (Or a lot of other things in life for that matter.) It could have been worse. My parents could have named me Glacier, or Abyss, or Crampon. I'm not kidding. According to my mom all those names were on the list."

This book is about a boy named Peak. He climbs sky scrapers to satisfy his love for climbing. While climbing one, he gets caught and has to go to court. A decision is made that he leaves New York until news about the sky scraper has died down. Peak goes to live with his father in Nepal. His father, a climbing guide and an outstanding climber, brings him along on his climbing expedition on Everest. Peak's dad is determined to get Peak to the top. This book follows Peak Marcello on his journey to the top of the highest mountain in the world. But as said in the book, “You can never tell you the mountain will allow and who it will not.”
