For the last 30 years or more Al Pacino could be depended upon to turn out a fairly good gangster movie. He did it again whit Donnie Brasco

A hypothesis I have is that the enormous popularity of the mafia gangster movie genre that began with THE GODFATHER (1972) is correlated with the conservative counter-revolution famously kicked off by the Powell Memo. America, as was perceived by its overlords, was suffering from an "excess of democracy." From the early 1970s onward wages for the working class have become unhinged from productivity. For decade after decade the America worker has become more efficient, invested more in education, but has realized little or nothing of those gains on the paycheck. It has all gone to 1%. In this light, DONNIE BRASCO is a moving story about an aging, ill blue-collar worker, Al Pacino, who is in fear of losing his job. The chemistry between the undercover agent played by Johnny Depp and the over-hill-hitman Pacino is incredible. The movie is worth watching to see their performance together. Anne Heche is beautiful, but the weakness of this film is the relationship between her, as the put-upon spouse, and Depp.

Donnie Brasco, the film based on true story of an FBI agent, infiltrated to join the mafia to investigate & DISMANTLE the mafia, keeps one fascinated to see the inner circles of the mafia & the law enforcement.

ALL AT THE SAME TIME, Earning the confidence & the trust of the mafia & the FBI, drawing the fine between law-enforcement & the mafia looks very difficult & deadly.

SIX YEARS TO DISMANTLE THIS SMALL MAFIA CLAN SEEMS TOO LONG.

In Donnie Brasco, one NEVER knows, when a friend is order by the boss to kill his friend, EVERY ONE IS EXPENDABLE FOR THE BOUNTY.

Sadly, once one joined the circle, one is never allowed to get out of the circle.

VERY ENLIGHTENING FILM.

Pacino and Depp are truly masterful in their performances. This is a gangster flick with brains, emotion, a fantastic plot, and wonderful acting. I highly recommend that everyone check this out at least once, it won't disappoint.

Joe Pistone: All my life I've tried to be the good guy, the guy in the white f**king hat. And for what? For nothing. I'm not becoming like them; I am them.

FBI Technician: What's forget about it?
Donnie Brasco: Forget about it is like if you agree with someone, you know, like Raquel Welch is one great piece of ass, forget about it. But then, if you disagree, like A Lincoln is better than a Cadillac? Forget about it! you know? But then, it's also like if something's the greatest thing in the world, like mingia those peppers, forget about it. But it's also like saying Go to hell! too. Like, you know, like "Hey Paulie, you got a one inch pecker?" and Paulie says "Forget about it!" Sometimes it just means forget about it.
