You have to be a dog lover to enjoy this book. I am. It had me crying toward the end when they had to put their beloved pet to sleep. Been there a few times myself.

What a great book. Anyone who has owned and loved a dog will enjoy this book. In the introduction, Mr. Levin says "Writing this book was both painful and cathartic for me. Reading may be emotional for you. I hope it brings you some smiles. I know it will bring you some tears.". As someone who has never cried over a book before, I thought this was just enticement to get me to read the book. Oh boy, was I wrong and was Mr. Levin right. I bawled!! If you've ever lost a dog, guaranteed, you will cry. *Sigh* What a great book!

If you love your older dog as much as I love my little 10 year old Shih Tzu Max this book is for you.
In 2004 Mark Levin and his family adopted a beautiful Spaniel mix they named Sprite from the local shelter as a companion for their six year old Border Collie/Cocker Spaniel mix Pepsi. What they didn't know when they adopted him was that Sprite was over 10 years old and had health problems.
What followed was 26 months of joy, love and anguish for the Levins, Sprite and Pepsi.
