Made with a shoe-string budget and using non-professional actors, this small film from China depicts the determination of a 17-yr old boys from the rural area of China to bring home his father, who left him and his mother for the big city 6 years ago, dead or alive. This film can be too slow for some. For me the look inside life in modern China, and its average village and city folks, is definitely a bonus and worth the time.

A child, doggedly, searches out his prodigal father, pledging to bring him home. Viewer's enjoyment is in the journey. The ending is unexpected.

It's usually interesting to see films from other cultures, and this was no exception. However, there was something a bit too dreary about the cinematography for my liking. This is not the only filmmaker that seems to think that if the story is melancholy then the sun mustn't shine.

A very slow and not very interesting film. I turned it off after approximately 20 minutes.

Another gripping Chinese film that pulls us right into the dilemma that this lad shoulders. Even if he succeeds in bringing his father home he remains steadfast and dedicated to his duty. You'll understand this cryptic remark if you watch this brave piece of film making.
