A New York Times Bestselling Author -- Hannah Swensen is set to bake up a storm at The Cookie Jar for Lake Eden, Minnesota's annual Winter Carnival. Too bad the honor of creating the official Winter Carnival cake went to lifestyle maven Connie Mac. Hannah suspects she's just like the confections she whips up on her TV cooking show -- sweet but with a bitter aftertaste. Turns out she's right. But then Hannah finds the bossy, bad-tempered "Cooking Sweetheart" dead -- after eating one of her muffins.

It was OK, but there is a serious lack of small town characters with interesting foibles.

I am truly enjoying the series. These are easy, cozy reads. The recipes throughout the books sound delicious! On to the next....

The third book in this series... and the books are just as nice to read as ever. I must find the recipe book(s) that go with these because the recipes are just too good-sounding to not try. :)

This book was pleasant to read, although the characters do often seem a bit one-dimensional. But perhaps this simplicity is part of its charm, because I enjoyed this book, as I have others in this series. I especially love the recipes although I do wish for some savoury dishes rather than sweet ones. If you are trying to stay away from sweets this book is not for you! :-)
