In this elegant self-portrait, the world's most outspoken and influential spiritual leader recounts his epic and engaging life story. The Dalai Lama's most accessible and intimate book, My Spiritual Journey is an excellent introduction to the larger-than-life leader of Tibetan Buddhism--perfect for anyone curious about Eastern religion, invested in the Free Tibet movement, or simply seeking a richer spiritual life. The Dalai Lama's riveting, deeply insightful meditations on life will resonate strongly with readers of Pema Chodron, Thich Nhat Hanh, or the His Holiness's own The Art of Happiness and Ethics for the New Millennium.

For most people Buddhism is a religion of tolerance and peace. So, when the Buddhist monk Dalai Lama speaks against injustice, people listen with respect. But this icon of peace hasn’t uttered any word of wisdom or compassion about what is happening to the Rohingya community in the Rakhine province under the brutal siege of Buddhist monks on the street and atrocities committed by the Burmese military. No disrespect intended, but his definition of 'oneness of humanity' sounds feigned, because apparently he is unable to make his own people practice what he preaches. Undisputed myths are fascinating and ironically always had a good market in the West.

First, he does not push anyone into his religion, he believes in all religions. This is hands-down the best self help book you could ever possibly read! His message is one that is simply: love and compassion to all regardless of one's ideologies, religion, race, or the economy. He is the most down-to-earth person you could ever imagine. In my opinion this should be read by everyone including our high school kids. The end chapters are about the atrocities going on today in Tibet.

Best self help book you'll ever turn pages on, he takes me higher every time I read his word out loud, I want to hear the simple word, the deep meaning and the sun he shines on all of us since being 10 years old. All the harsh points on mountains he can flatten, the air is thinner where he lives and he carries me up to where he lives; he welcomes the world of "oneness."

A concise primer for those minimally familiar with the Dalai Lama, his life journey, and the facts associated with the Chinese occupation of Tibet. A good historical read.
