"The Girl Can't Help It" is a true buried treasure. This is a 1956 rock and roll based movie staring the beautiful Jayne Mansfield. She plays a singer named Jeri Jordon with a down and out press agent named Tom Miller. That press agent is played by Tom Ewell. The real stars of the movie are all rock and roll legends. They are putting a concert on with Little Richard, Gene Vincent, The Platters and Julie London with the Ray Anthony Orchestra. Rock movies tended in the 50's to be cheaply made, but not "The Girl Can't Help It". Director Frank Tashlin used famed cinematographer Leon Shamroy to shoot the film in beautiful color. So we have a great lineup of rock and roll greats surrounding a story about Jane Mansfield as Jerri Jordon an up and coming singing star. For those who like 50's rock and roll with a good comedy movie wrapped around it, this is for you! P.S. KCLS only has 2 copies of the film. Only one of those copies is out right this moment. I think that is going to change here quickly enough
My comments today are the only feedback "The Girl Can't Help It" have ever had. This 1956 movie made it into the catalog almost 60 years after it release. Please be so kind as to leave your reaction to the movie. Thanks!!
