An interesting if self-serving memoir of a typical Nazi: not a sadist, and only somewhat of a bigot, but an opportunist. Fans and defenders of Speer should remember two things: 1) his achievement in keeping the German war machine functioning is moderated by his unlimited access to plunder and slave labour, both domestic and international. 2) We have only his own word for many incidents, for example, that he tried to kill Hitler (by an elaborate poison gas method, rather than, you know, just shooting him in the head), or that he told Hitler face to face that he had disobeyed orders, and the Fuehrer took it rather well. Sure, Jan.

An illuminating book by the man who kept Hitler's armament industries going in the latter part of WW 2.
