Green won the American Society of Journalists and Authors Outstanding Book Award 2011 for Murder in the High Himalaya. He is a journalist who has reported on corruption in oil-rich Kazakhstan, the destruction of the rain forest in Borneo and human rights abuses connected to gold mining in West Africa, among many other topics. He has also received the Amnesty International Media Award for Excellence in Human Rights Journalism.
