I feel fortunate to have seen this tour at the Moore, with another of my favorite bands opening Trouble. It's a special memory when so many people were stage diving that they just let us gather around Dime and watch him rock out. I remember looking at this pedal board and thinking "... I have all of those..." and it was so interesting to see how he put a 1st get Digitec Whammy, a Hendrix Wah, a Dimesion C, and a Phaser to use. The 25 year aniversary of VDOP was in February 2017... I still listen to this album today.

This, for my money, is one of the top 10 metal albums of all time! This album is built for damage, pure and simple. From beginning to end, even this album's "misteps" err on the side of heaviness and impact. Pantera WAS the metal band of the early to mid 90s, armed with an amazing trust in each other's technicality, a planet crushing heavy with warp drive speed in between to really even out a remarkable milestone of metal.

As metal started to spawn endless subgenres in the 80s and 90s, Texan cowboy metalheads keep things simple: loud, fast, angry. This was metal to mosh and fight to and could appeal to alternative fans who liked the more metal-ish Seattle bands like Alice in Chains and Soundgarden. The cover picture of a dude being punched in the effin' face sums it up pretty well. Along with "Far Beyond Driven," their signature album.
