This picture of Gypsy Rose Lee and life in the 20s and 30s was fascinating. While my Natalie Wood image of Gypsy was way off base, this image was more real and gritty.

I enjoyed this book and the in-depth details it gives on Gypsy and her very messed up family in Seattle. Some details are disturbing. I never knew that Gypsy and her sister June had Mama Rose buried in an unmarked grave. That is only one small but significant detail Karen Abbott brings to life.
