I don't watch the tv show but am just loving the soundtrack. Great tunes from emerging artists.

This is the kind of album that's good background music when you're driving in your car and don't want anything too demanding to grab all of your attention. Most of the album simply floated over me like ambient music, but a few of the tracks were captivating enough to grab my complete attention. "Running up that Hill", "Bloodstream", "Down", and "All You Wanted" definitely captured my attention.

A pretty good soundtrack to Season 1 of the Vampire Diaries. There are a good 5 or 6 strong songs on here including the ones by Placebo and Plumb. A couple of the songs are bit melancholy for my liking. Also, I watched the first season and there were lots of good songs on the show that didn't make the disc. Obviously they can't put 30 songs on one disk but there were probably better songs they could have picked (probably had to do with the cost to get the rights and such). Also, it would have been nice if the liner noted which episode(s) the songs were in. Still, if you like the show, or even if you like a good mix of indi-rock, or alternative-pop rock songs, this is a good collection.

I only checked this out so I could listen to "Running Up That Hill" by Placebo over and over and over again, but I discovered a few other gems like "Down" by Jason Walker.
