Glass Sword, Book #2 of the Red Queen Series, written by Victoria Aveyard, is a great book, but was a disappointment for me compared to the last book in this series. After reading the first book titled “Red Queen”, which is an outstanding book, I had very high expectations for this sequel, but I felt that this book did not live up to those expectations. The storyline of this book was complicated and hard to follow. The author added a lot of new characters to this book which were not present in the last one making this book even harder to comprehend. I’m not saying that this book is bad, but I believe that the last book in this series has set the bar very high and this book was not able to reach that same level. If you have read the first book in the Red Queen Series, you are probably very inclined to reading Glass Sword and I still suggest that you do because this book is still very good, but just be prepared for a little bit of a disappointment. I give this book a 2.5 out of 5. @Rose of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board I enjoyed this book more than the first one in the series for sure. I started to hate Mare in the middle of the book. You could see her transitioning and making decisions that make you question her morals. It was a fascinating read. It got way more political, and there were a lot of moral questions to be asked throughout the book; you can see the pressure the characters are under, and you wonder how much killing they do is actually for the greater good. The author was able to leave the book on a cliff ending, just like the ones before, making it almost impossible for you not to want to read the next book. 4/5 @bookwzxrm of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board This breathtaking sequel to “Red Queen” is just as amazing, if not better, than the first book. I was unable to put this book down and finished it in a day! It constantly left me wanting more after every chapter. The ending is amazing - yet shocking, just like in the previous novel. I am in love with this series, and cannot wait to read the next book. This is one of those book series that you can just feel will turn into an amazing movie. Overall I would rate it 5/5 and would definitely recommend it. @potterhead of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
