If you want to indulge in the guilty pleasure of a regency romance without feeling like you've been sucked into an intellectual vacuum, Eloisa James is a good choice. She's a Shakespeare prof under a different name, so her character-driven books usually contain some tidbit about the bard (here a character tries to avoid marriage by spouting obnoxiously learned Shakespeare quotes at her fiance). Much Ado About You includes a lovely poem by Catullus (!) as well.
